LA28’s Latest Emblem Honors Two Iconic Host Cities – Paris and Los Angeles

The LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games today unveiled its latest custom emblem, honoring the spirit of two iconic host cities, present and future. The custom animated mark features a flag flowing from France to the United States, celebrating the ceremonial moment this summer in which Los Angeles becomes the host city of the Olympic Games for the third time in its history.

“There is really nothing that compares to an Olympic and Paralympic Games and we couldn’t be more excited for Paris as they prepare to welcome the world this week,” said LA28 Chief Marketing Officer Amy Gleeson. “This latest LA28 custom emblem celebrates the moment LA takes the baton from Paris and it’s an opportunity to invite everyone into the LA28 story and get ready for what’s next in 2028. We’ve got some celebratory plans in store for the Handover – you won’t want to miss it.”

Showcasing two symbolic host cities – both of which have twice previously hosted the Games – the custom emblem honors the passing of the Olympic flag from France to the United States at the Closing Ceremony when the Olympic Games Paris 2024 conclude on Aug. 11. During the Paralympic Games Paris 2024, a Paralympic Handover ‘A’ emblem will also be released.

To share LA’s excitement for the Games, over the next three weeks, LA28 will be unveiling digital campaigns and news, including more custom LA28 emblems from athletes, artists and partners. At home in Los Angeles, LA28 is also rolling out programs for young Angelenos to experience the Games. This includes Olympic and Paralympic Day of Sport activation kits for kids across the City of LA to take part in Games-related activities through their local park or recreation center, as well as Games-themed educational activities that are currently available at libraries across LA County.

The Handover ‘A’ emblem is the 40th release in LA28’s campaign that launched in 2020, capturing the stories of Angelenos, athletes, artists and activists. Designed as the first ever changing mark in Olympic history, the LA28 emblem represents a collection of voices that reflects the host city’s vibrant culture of creativity, sport and self-expression.

Set against a static and bold L, 2 and 8 that serve as the mark’s foundation, the LA28 emblem was built for the digital age with a dynamic and animated ‘A’ that is always evolving in its journey to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
