LOS ANGELES – An Orange County man was sentenced today to 54 months in federal prison for fraudulently obtaining $5 million in COVID-relief loans for his sham businesses, then used the money on himself, including purchasing Ferrari, Bentley and Lamborghini cars. Mustafa Qadiri, 42, of Irvine, was sentenced by United States District Judge Josephine L. Staton, who also fined him $20,000 and ordered him to pay $2,861,050 in restitution. Assembly Bill 935, authored by Assemblyman Damon Connolly (D-San Rafael), would specifically implement a phased tobacco ban by prohibiting a tobacco retailer from selling tobacco products to any person born on or after January 1, 2007. NEWBURY PARK – A man has been arrested for fatally shooting his sister Thursday night, according to authorities. Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call from a father stating his son had just shot and killed his daughter in the 100 block of Sandra Ct. Deputies arrived on the scene to learn the son was still inside the residence with the gun along with the mother and father. FONTANA- A driver was killed after driving into the rear of a trailer Thursday evening in Fontana, according to authorities. CHP and fire personnel responded to a traffic collision around 9:30 p.m. near Cherry Ave. and San Bernardino Ave. Upon arrival, they found the car had rear-ended the trailer of a semi-truck and pronounced the driver deceased. Their identification is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

POMONA – Police found one person and another wounded inside a red pickup in Pomona, authorities said Friday. Pomona Police Department officers responded to calls regarding a pickup blocking westbound traffic just after 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Foothill Boulevard and Falcon Street, Fox 11 reported. Upon their arrival, they found one person dead and another wounded inside the truck, both suffering from gunshot wounds. The wounded person was taken to a hospital in an unknown condition. The genders and ages of the victims were not immediately known. There were no further details.

LANCASTER – A woman has been shot in front of her children today in Lancaster, according to authorities. Deputies and fire department personnel responded to Sierra Highway near Avenue J for reports of a gunshot victim. The woman was suffering from a gunshot to her shoulder. Witnesses described the woman as being “pistol whipped” and punched before being shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition. Deputies then received a tip the suspect fled in a U-haul truck towards the city of Rosemond. Deputies then surrounded a home in the 3900 block of Springfield Court…
