LOS ANGELES – A 62-year-old man was shot dead by two suspects who drove up in a sedan as he was about to exercise on his bike Sunday morning in the unincorporated Firestone Park community of Los Angeles County, authorities said. The shooting was reported at 6:27 a.m. in the 9400 block of Parmalee Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported. LOS ANGELES – There were no tickets sold with all six numbers in the latest SuperLotto Plus drawing and the estimated jackpot for Tuesday’s drawing is $61 million. One ticket each with five numbers, but missing the Mega number, was sold at a convenience store in Ukiah in Mendocino County in Northern California and is worth $47,747, the California Lottery announced. SANTA ANA – A 25-year-old gang member with previous felony convictions was sentenced Friday life in prison without parole for gunning down a 20-year-old man in a mid-afternoon drive-by shooting in Santa Ana. Edgar Macias Martinez was convicted April 26 of first-degree murder with special circumstances of a drive-by shooting and murder for the benefit of a gang. He was also convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm with a sentencing enhancement for discharge of a firearm causing death. ORANGE – Orange County Transportation Authority drivers for disabled commuters voted Thursday to accept a new contract and full service is expected to resume Monday.
