SACRAMENTO – California Governor Gavin Newsom announced the reappointment of Ana Cubas, to the California Law Revision Commission, where she has served since 2019.
The California Law Revision Commission is an independent state agency created by statute in 1953. It assists the Legislature and Governor by examining California law and recommending needed reforms.
Cubas has been an Adjunct Professor for the Los Angeles Community College District since 2017, the Founder and President of the Latina Public Service Academy since 2014, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ana Cubas Consulting LLC., since 2013.
She was a Government Affairs Manager at Vanir Construction Management from 2016 to 2017. She was a Project Manager at HDR Inc. from 2014 to 2015. Cubas earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern California, a Master of Public Affairs in Urban and Regional Planning degree from Princeton University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Berkeley.
In 2013, she unsuccessfully ran for Los Angeles City Council District 9 against Curren Price. Published reports indicated it was the “lowest turnout of the eight council races.” At the time, Price spent in excess of $500,000 to get 5,184 votes, while Cubas claimed 4.643, according to Los Angeles Downtown News.
Cubas has not indicated if she plans to run for the Council District 9 seat now that Price has termed out.
Cubas’ reappointment requires Senate confirmation, and the compensation is $100 per diem. Cubas is a Democrat.
