SOUTH LOS ANGELES – After twenty days have passed, a woman found in a burned vehicle inside a South Los Angeles tow yard remains to be identified by authorities.

“This decedent will not be added to the unidentified person search on our website because she has a presumed name. Once she is identified and her family notified, then, she will be found on our website under case information,” said the public information officer for the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The inquiry was made after a member of the public requested that 2 Urban Girls look into her identity after her death was overshadowed by news reports of another woman found dead inside a Tesla in a Hollywood tow yard.

“Can you post an update on this story about a lady found in the trunk at the tow yard off of Western and Gage? She is getting no attention because of D4VD…we need to know who she is, she is just as important.”

The woman’s body was discovered at Al’s Towing in the 1900 block of Gage Ave. on September 9. Her family had reported her missing.

Video from local news reports showed tents set up over a Honda sedan parked in the tow yard. It appeared the back of the car had been burned.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the car had been towed to the lot from the 6800 block of South Flower Street, records show.

Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the woman’s death is being investigated as a homicide.
