Applications are now open for Ascend LA’s 2025 cohort, a free business accelerator program designed to empower entrepreneurs to scale, compete, and thrive in a dynamic economy. Led by Local Initiatives Support Corporation Los Angeles (LISC LA) in partnership with Loyola Marymount University (LMU) and CMG Alliance, and proudly supported by JP Morgan Chase, Ascend LA equips small businesses with the education, mentorship, and market access they need to secure contracts tied to major projects and world sporting events coming to Los Angeles.

This year, Ascend LA is especially focused on supporting small businesses in areas impacted by the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

Through a six-month program, Ascend LA provides participants with world-class management education, one-on-one advising, certification and bid preparation support, and connections to regional and national supply chains. This comprehensive approach ensures that small businesses have what they need to grow their operations and successfully compete for lucrative contracts, contributing to long-term economic growth across Los Angeles County. Applications are open through March 28, 2025 at 11:59pm PST, and eligible businesses can learn more and apply at www.ascendla.org/apply.

“Ascend LA is about creating opportunities for local businesses to grow and thrive, while driving economic development across Los Angeles County,” said Nicole Williams, Executive Director of LISC LA. “With the billions of dollars in contracts expected from world sporting events and major projects, we’re excited to prepare local entrepreneurs—including those impacted by the LA wildfires—to take advantage of these opportunities.”

Leading faculty from the LMU College of Business Administration will teach Ascend LA’s management education sessions, focusing on business growth strategies, entrepreneurial skill-building, and access to capital. CMG Alliance also brings expertise in procurement readiness and contract opportunities to support participants in the program.

“LMU is proud to partner with Ascend LA to empower small businesses in our community,” said Dayle M. Smith, Dean of the LMU College of Business Administration. “Through this program, we’re equipping entrepreneurs with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in competitive markets and contribute to the long-term growth of Los Angeles’ economy.”

Since its launch, Ascend LA has proven its impact, helping local businesses secure over $58 million in contracts to date. The program has also prepared participants to expand operations, create jobs, and strengthen their communities.
