During Hunger Action Month, DoorDash is proud to announce that California-based organizations will receive 12 of 70 Project DASH Impact Grants totaling over $300,000 awarded this year to organizations working to eliminate barriers to accessing food and essential goods.

“Project DASH is proud to help empower local communities to better serve those in need,” said Caitlin Gillis, Senior Manager, Government and Nonprofit – DoorDash Drive.“Home delivery has become an increasingly important tool in connecting people with food and essential goods in a way that prioritizes convenience and dignity, and Project DASH helps our partners break down barriers to access. We look forward to seeing how these Impact Grants help them fulfill their mission.”

In total, these organizations will share $43,500 to help leverage local delivery to connect their communities with the resources they need most.

“Our partnership with Project DASH is breaking down barriers to access in Santa Barbara.” said Erik Talkin, CEO of the Food Bank of Santa Barbara. “The Project DASH Impact Grant will empower us to expand our capabilities and allow us to focus on what we do best: serving our neighbors experiencing food insecurity. It’s a perfect example of how working together can ensure our neighbors have the meals they need.”

The partnering organizations across California awarded grants include:

  • Abrazar, Inc., Orange County
  • All Peoples Community Center, Los Angeles
  • APLA Health & Wellness, Los Angeles
  • St. Francis Center, Los Angeles
  • Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin County, Stockton
  • Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara
  • Hunger Action Los Angeles, Los Angeles
  • Lighthouse of Hope Foundation Inc., Riverside
  • Organic Soup Kitchen, Santa Barbara
  • San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, San Francisco and Marin
  • Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, Silicon Valley
  • Connect Senior Service, Upland

One in five Californians faces food insecurity, meaning they have limited or uncertain access to adequate food. These individuals often also face considerable barriers to accessing food, including a lack of transportation.

Since 2018, DoorDash’s Project DASH has powered more than 6 million deliveries of over 100 million meals for food banks, food pantries, and other social impact organizations. As part of its ongoing commitment to broadening food access, this year, DoorDash has provided more than $1 million total to support our anti-hunger partners’ work to fight food insecurity.

Organizations interested in expanding their existing delivery efforts or learning how delivery could enhance their programs should contact the Project DASH team at projectdash@doordash.com.
