SoCal McDonald’s customers raise $1M for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California

Local McDonald’s customers raised $1 million through Round-Up for RMHC since January, roughly tripling last year’s donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California

To commemorate the record-breaking $1 million raised through Round-Up for RMHC in 2023, local McDonald’s Owner/Operator Todd Horner presented a check to CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California, Fatima Djelmane, in an event at a West Covina McDonald’s restaurant on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. 

The record-breaking donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of Southern California will help further its mission of caring for families who must travel far from home when their child needs life-saving medical care. “I want to thank all our McDonald’s customers, restaurant crew members, General Managers and my fellow Owner/Operators across SoCal for making this happen. This year, our efforts together tripled previous Round-Up donations making this record-breaking $1M donation possible,” said Owner/Operator Todd Horner.

The two were also joined by McDonald’s West Covina General Manager, Dulce Vaca, whose restaurant was the top fundraiser for this year’s Round-Up for RMHC campaign. “I’m so proud of my crew! It started with them learning about the charity, what it does, and how it helps families in need. Understanding how the money our customers give through Round-Up supports families in our own community was a great motivator for them to encourage customers to round-up and donate,” said General Manager Dulce Vaca.

By choosing to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar at the counter, kiosk or drive-thru, Southern California McDonald’s customers are helping families access the medical care and resources they need. In 2022, RMHC of Southern California provided:

  • 8,536 family members with a home away from home to stay by their hospitalized child’s side, totaling 27,456 overnight stays at the Ronald McDonald House®
  • 359 families with the life-changing experience of visiting Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times®, one of the only pediatric oncology camps in the nation
  • 1,404 served by in-hospital Ronald McDonald Family Room® locations, where families can recharge, grab a bite to eat, shower, or get rest during the long days of testing or treatment
  • 7,679 hours of Family Support Services

Founded on the idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest – RMHC fulfills its mission locally through a network of eight Ronald McDonald House® programs, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® and three Ronald McDonald Family Room® locations throughout Southern California.
