INGLEWOOD (SBE) – A fired Black employee from SoFi Stadium will use a formal apology after a video went viral showing an overturned food cart after a concert held June 3.
Marvin Carroll, who worked with the “guest experience” team was fired today after knocking over a hot dog stand and injuring a young Latino girl in the process.
SoFi Stadium is managed by Hollywood Park Management Company who confirmed the employee who tipped over the food cart was fired.
“We are aware that an incident occurred Saturday night outside of the stadium and are working with law enforcement to look into the matter,” according to a statement released by SoFi Stadium on Tuesday. “The individual involved was employed by a third-party vendor, and we have been advised that he has since been terminated.
“Maintaining a safe environment is our number one priority, and we will continue to regularly evaluate staffing and protocols across all of our vendors to ensure an enjoyable entertainment experience.”
Carroll, will hold a press conference to issue an apology with African-American civil rights leaders, who are calling for a Los Angeles County and city wide weekend of support for street vendors.
“We are calling for a citywide effort to patronize street vendors especially, in South Central, Los Angeles, where Latino street vendors have unfortunately been the victims of robbery, beatings, harassment and shootings by African Americans over the last few weeks,” said activist Najee Ali, Director of Project Islamic Hope.

Carroll deeply regrets what happened and wants to publicly issue an apologize with the hopes this will ease any tensions between the Latino and African-American community’s.
The street vendors allege they lost hundreds of dollars worth of food and are now unable to care for their families.
“Victims can’t feed their children and families with an apology and it’s important that African American’s show our compassion and solidarity with working class Latino street vendors by patronizing them this weekend and permanently,” said Ali.
The press conference will be held in front of SoFi Stadium at the intersection of Priaire and Pincay Drive on Wednesday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m.
The conference is in collaboration with Project Islamic Hope, Skipp Townsend, founder of Inglewood 2nd Call, and the Inglewood NAACP.
