LOS ANGELES – A 31-year-old woman who was shot and killed in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South Los Angeles was identified by county authorities Thursday.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office identified the victim as Jennifer Gomez. Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at around 11:50 p.m. Tuesday to the 8700 block of Vermont Avenue regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call and found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds, an LAPD spokesman told City News Service.
A man described by police as a neighbor was taken into custody, LAPD Officer Adrian Gonzalez told KTLA5. The man’s name was not immediately released.
