This follows on the heels of her colleague Kathryn Barger announcing her intentions to run for another term to represent residents in Supervisor District 5.
Barger, Mitchell, and Janice Hahn are all up for reelection in 2024.
Janice Hahn hasn’t made an announcement of her intentions to run despite growing chatter that former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva could make a run against her.
Villanueva has continued to engage with the public with weekly discussions on his social media pages. He has also eluded to continuing his political career in one of three positions.
“I am looking at Governor, Sheriff, or Board of Supervisors,” said Villanueva. “We are going to let the public assist my wife, Vivian and I make that decision.”
Mitchell heavily criticized the Sheriff’s department under Villanueva’s tenure but has been silent on the department’s killing of six men since newly elected Robert Luna became Sheriff and took office in December.
