Homerville police Chief Dearin “Mack” Drury, 40, was arrested last week after a Feb. 19 incident during which evidence was improperly handled, according to the state agency. TEAM-UP Together will award Black students scholarships of $10,000 per academic year to ease the financial burdens that may prevent them from completing their undergraduate degree in physics or astronomy. The TEAM-UP Together Scholarship Program is underway and will continue to accept applications for its next round of need-based scholarships until March 15, 2023. The scholarship program is one of TEAM-UP Together’s strategies aimed at doubling the number of African Americans earning bachelor’s degrees in physics and astronomy by 2030. Homes owned by Black families appreciated more than any others since the start of the pandemic, with the typical Black homeowner gaining nearly $84,000 in equity. Black Americans also made slight gains in homeownership rates, despite disproportionate job and income loss.
