LOS ANGELES – A former USC football player was arrested Wednesday for allegedly raping two college students from USC and UCLA, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said. Joshua Fred James Jackson Jr., 21, is charged with three felony counts of forcible rape and one felony count of forcible sexual penetration, according to a statement released by the District Attorney’s Office. LOS ANGELES – The director of Animal Care Services in Long Beach was nominated Thursday to become the new head of the Los Angeles Animal Services department, which has had a vacancy in leadership since April 2021. The collision occurred about 5:05 a.m. Tuesday in the 4100 block of West Valley Boulevard, at the terminal point of the Long Beach (710) Freeway, the Pomona Police Department reported. LOS ANGELES – A man was fatally struck by a vehicle on the Golden State (5) Freeway near Griffith Park, and the investigation was continuing Thursday. Paramedics sent to the southbound 5 Freeway near Zoo Drive about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
