POMONA – Seventeen out of 658 motorists screened were cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license or driving with a suspended or revoked license during a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint in Pomona Saturday. In addition to the 17 drivers cited, four vehicles were towed, according to the Pomona Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau. The operation was conducted from 9 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday at Mission Boulevard and Curran Place. In 2021, the department investigated 135 DUI collisions that resulted in two deaths and injuring 48 people.

LOS ANGELES – A person who was killed in a fatal traffic collision involving a vehicle carrying three male occupants was identified Thursday. The incident occurred Friday at 3:10 p.m. at 6340 West La Tuna Canyon Road in the Tujunga area. The victim was identified as Ruben Manucharyan, 25, by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office. He was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of blunt traumatic injuries. LOS ANGELES – A man who was believed armed and barricaded in a building in the downtown Los Angeles area Friday was not at the location, and the investigation was continuing, authorities said. Officers went to the 600 block of South Spring Street to serve a warrant at about 3 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Police summoned a SWAT team, believing the suspect was inside, and surrounded the location. At about 7:30 a.m., authorities determined that the suspect was not there, police said.
