LOS ANGELES – Two former Torrance police officers were ordered Monday to stand trial on felony charges stemming from a swastika that was found spray-painted inside an impounded vehicle nearly 3 1/2 years ago. Superior Court Judge Craig Richman denied a defense motion to dismiss the case against Christopher Tomsic, 31, and Cody Weldin, 30, who are charged with one felony count each of vandalism with over $400 in damage and conspiracy to commit vandalism. LOS ANGELES – The Barrington Plaza Tenants Association Monday filed a lawsuit aimed at stopping the mass eviction of tenants at the 712-unit, rent-controlled apartment complex in West Los Angeles. BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – A husband and wife doctor team is suing the city of Santa Monica, alleging negligent handling by city Fire Department members in the aftermath of the male physician’s fall at the family home in 2022 left him a quadriplegic. Dr. Baldev Devgan, an 84-year-old ENT-otolaryngologist, and his wife, pathologist Dr. Manju Devgan, 79, filed the Beverly Hills Superior Court lawsuit on May 12, alleging medical and government entity negligence, elder abuse and neglect, loss of consortium and negligent infliction of emotional distress. LOS ANGELES – Authorities Monday identified a woman who was fatally shot in the South Los Angeles area over the weekend. The shooting was reported about 3 a.m. Saturday near 65th Street and Harvard Boulevard, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Kameka Lynette Adams, 43, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. Her city of residence was not known. According to police, a man who had been shot was taken to a hospital from the scene in critical condition, and he was being regarded as a possible suspect in the shooting pending further investigation.

LANCASTER – Two men were fatally shot at a motel in Lancaster during an apparent robbery, and the suspects were being sought Thursday, authorities said.
