LOS ANGELES – Averting a possible strike, the Dodgers and the union representing about 450 Dodger Stadium workers announced Tuesday they have reached an agreement on new five-year contracts. The contracts cover workers including ushers, security officers, ticket-takers, ticket-sellers, groundskeepers and hospitality workers. LOS ANGELES – A state appeals court panel Friday upheld a former Long Beach police detective’s conviction for conspiring to obstruct justice for leaking details of two investigations, including a murder probe, to a reputed gang member. The three-justice panel from California’s 2nd District Court of Appeal rejected Yvonne Dionne Robinson’s claim that there were errors in her trial in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom. Robinson was sentenced in August 2021 to 80 hours of community service and two years probation. Jose Andres Lopez, 70, of Mission Viejo, was convicted March 22 of 18 felony sexual assault charges dating as far back as 1991 through 2020. Lopez is a retired Orange County pastor, but jurors did not hear that fact during the trial because it was not deemed relevant to the allegations. LOS ANGELES- A 43-year-old man was arrested for allegedly pursuing a sexual relationship with an underage female student at a Watts high school where he once worked as a dean, and police Thursday urged other potential victims to come forward. Roger Scott was arrested and booked last Thursday on suspicion of contacting a minor with knowledge and intent to commit specific sexual offenses, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. LOS ANGELES – Police Thursday were investigating an armed robbery of a taco stand in the South Los Angeles area, the latest in a recent series of similar crimes. No injuries were reported in the robbery that occurred about 10:25 p.m. Wednesday at Manchester and Towne Avenues, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Sara Jacqueline King, 39, agreed to plead guilty to wire fraud and money laundering in an agreement filed Monday, federal prosecutors said.
