LONG BEACH – A woman was killed in a traffic collision early Monday morning.

Long Beach Police Department Collision Investigation Detail detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred Feb. 24 which resulted in the death of a female adult.

At approximately 6:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Willow Street regarding an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an unconscious female adult pedestrian in the roadway. Bystanders and officers rendered medical aid until Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was walking in a marked crosswalk when a 2005 GMC made a right turn from westbound Willow Street to northbound Long Beach Boulevard and struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the vehicle, a 61-year-old resident of Long Beach, remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

At this time, impaired driving does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson at (562) 570-7355. Anonymous tips may be submitted through “LA Crime Stoppers” by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), downloading the “P3 TIPS” app to your smartphone (available at the Apple App store and Google Play), or visiting LACrimeStoppers.org.
