An investigation is underway after a deputy responding to a San Bernardino County home was involved in a shooting that left one person hospitalized late Monday night.
The deputies were called to the home in the 10700 block of Central Road in Apple Valley around 10 p.m.
“The investigation is still ongoing, but preliminarily, deputies responded to the location and a lethal force encounter occurred. A male subject was struck and transported to the hospital. As soon as we can, we will release additional information,” said Gloria Huerta, spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department.
One person was observed in Sheriff’s custody at the home and was transported from the scene in the back of a patrol car, according to videographers at the scene.
According to KTLA5, Huerta did not confirm the age or identity of the wounded person but a family member identified him as Elisha Brown. The family member said Brown was 16 or 17 years old and was airlifted to the hospital.
