The 2nd Annual Los Angeles Kids Book Festival returns to West Hollywood Park on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This free event celebrates children’s literacy and fosters a love for reading for kids of all ages, presented by the American Born Chinese Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting children’s bilingual literacy, along with the City of West Hollywood.

“We are proud to host the Los Angeles Kids Book Festival once again in our city,” says city officials. “Books open incredible worlds to our children, and through this festival, we celebrate the power of stories to fire the imagination and encourage lifelong reading habits.”

This year’s festival will continue to offer a rich array of activities suitable for children of all ages, including over 70 exhibitors, live book readings by celebrated authors, interactive storytelling sessions, musical performances, arts and crafts, and other activities. There will be plenty of books and other interesting vendors, meet-and-greets with authors, face painting, photo booth, dancing, games, slime making, plenty of savory and sweet food trucks, free giveaways (including upcoming animation giveaways from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks), and much more. This year, the festival will also introduce new authors and illustrators, providing fresh perspectives and stories that captivate and inspire. Please visit https://www.lakidsbookfestival.com to register for tickets and receive festival updates, as well as keeping up with the complete list of exhibitors and activities.

Children of all ages will enjoy performances by The BeatBuds (Nickelodeon), Chloé and Maud Arnold from The Syncopated Ladies (Emmy award nominated female tap dance troupe), Sole Talks (International youth tap dance company), Love Bug & Me, a live art installation by artist Juan Muniz, along with a special appearance from Mykal-Michelle Harris from Disney Junior’s Ariel and star of the upcoming Raven’s Home spinoff Alice in the Palace, as well as other special guests and giveaways.

Book Soup and Children’s Book World have joined this year’s Los Angeles Kids Book Festival in order to enhance the experience with author autograph sessions and book readings with popular children’s authors, including Pulitzer Prize-winning author Viet Thanh Nguyen. The event promises to enrich the cultural landscape of Los Angeles by celebrating the vibrant world of children’s literature and promoting literacy among young readers.

The return of the Los Angeles Kids Book Festival marks an important day in our community calendar,” says Bonnie Hyde, Founder and CEO of the American Born Chinese Foundation. “Last year’s festival set a high benchmark, and this year, we aim to exceed it, bringing even more exciting opportunities for children and families to fall in love with reading and storytelling.”

The Los Angeles Kids Book Festival is set to be an annual fixture, continuing to grow and evolve each year. It represents a cornerstone event in the city’s cultural offerings, appealing to families, educators, and young readers alike. The festival venue, West Hollywood Park, offers a safe, vibrant environment where families can gather to enjoy the magic of books together.

The American Born Chinese Foundation is a vibrant public charity committed to nurturing bilingual literacy and celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) pride. Through its initiatives, the foundation seeks to empower young readers by promoting bilingualism and fostering cultural understanding.

The Los Angeles Kids Book Festival, held annually in West Hollywood, is dedicated to promoting children’s literacy, celebrating young authors, and providing a platform for families to explore the enchanting world of books. This event is a key collaboration between the City of West Hollywood and the American Born Chinese Foundation, aimed at fostering a lifelong passion for reading among children.
