INGLEWOOD – A second man has died after drowning in the lake at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office has identified Mirai Shepard, 19, as the deceased.
KABC7 reported, a Shepard died after drowning in the lake outside of SoFi Stadium.
According to the Inglewood Police Department, officers and security officials assigned to work the event taking place at the venue Friday night, ILLENIUM: TRILOGY LOS ANGELES, saw the man walking into the lake and then swimming further in.
“As he continued to swim, he went underwater and did not resurface,” the department said in a news release.
IPD provided no details on WHY no one either stopped him or jumped in to save him.
An immediate search and rescue operation, that included a lifeguard dive team and drone technology were deployed. The man’s body was recovered about 45 minutes later and he was pronounced dead.
His identity if being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Questions are now arising that the properties management company did nothing to mitigate safety concerns after Javier Bautista-Reyes, 45, was found at the bottom of the lake, which is roughly 15 feet deep, in the early morning of July 6, 2022.
