McDonald’s has partnered up with Los Angeles native, creative director, and founder of the famous game Millennial Lotería, Mike Alfaro, to design a special McDonald’s edition of the iconic game “lotería.”

The games will be provided exclusively to restaurants in Southern California for game night events starting October 5th through the end of the month in select locations across LA, OC, Riverside, and Ventura counties.

The first game night was held on Oct. 5 and was a resounding success with over 100 people descending upon a local McDonald’s in Whittier to play lotería with their friends, family, and other community members.

Alfaro came up with the idea in 2017 which began with him posting ideas to his social media accounts. From there, his followers requested he create a board game.

“I created 1,000 games and expected it would take me around 3-4 months to sell out. I ended up selling out within a week,” said Alfaro.

Lotería is similar to bingo yet Alfaro’s millenial version contains images that they can relate to.

Alfaro has gone on to collaborate with many brands with the latest being McDonald’s.

“It started with a phone call where they reached out because they have been following me and were fans of my work,” said Alfaro. “From there, we collaborated on the images that are part of the game.”

Images include a retro McDonald’s, classic characters like the Hamburgler and Birdie, along with menu items such as the McGriddles, french fries, and apple pies. Alfaro was also conscious of including images of McDonald’s crew members and the General Manager who are responsible for ensuring that guest’s experiences exceed expectations.

Alfaro has a background in marketing and he shared these tips for aspiring entrepreneurs to consider when promoting their brands, products, and/or services.

“Know your audience and who you are speaking to, have a short clear message about what you’re about because should be able to know what you’re selling when coming to your social media account, and finally don’t be afraid to put yourself in front of the camera,” said Alfaro.

Attendees played rounds of lotería with everyone receiving a McDonald’s Millenial Lotería game for participating. Alfaro took the time to autograph each box and take photos with those who came to celebrate with him.

The games are available as prizes during lotería game nights around Southern California for the entire month of October!

I’m lovin’ it!
