LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is scheduled to speak at the Congressional Caucus on Foster Youth’s annual Foster Youth Shadow Day event Wednesday on Capitol Hill, highlighting the needs of the young people in the nation’s child welfare system.
Bass founded the caucus in 2011, her first year in the House, and was a co-chair throughout her congressional career. The caucus has hosted a Foster Youth Shadow Day on Capitol Hill since 2012.
Bass’ successor in the House, Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove, D-Los Angeles, is among the caucus’ six co-chairs.
Bass is scheduled to be back in Los Angeles by Wednesday evening, an aide said.
This is Bass’ second trip outside California in three weeks. She was in Columbus, Ohio, June 1-4 for the United States Conference of Mayors 91st Meeting.
