SAN FERNANDO – Two people were injured Tuesday when a work truck rear-ended a Los Angeles County Fire Department truck on the Golden State (5) Freeway in San Fernando.
The crash occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway near San Fernando Mission Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Crews on the scene reported two people were injured, but there was no word on whether either person was taken to a hospital. The work truck sustained major damage in the crash, appearing partially crumpled. It was unclear if the fire truck sustained major damage.
The crash caused a major backup on the southbound freeway at the onset of the evening rush hour.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
