Feuer establishes himself as clear frontrunner in California’s 30th Congressional District, outraising Friedman by 2-1 and Portantino by more than $200K in this quarter alone

Mike Feuer has raised more money than any other candidate running to replace Adam Schiff in CA-30. Among those considered his chief competition, Feuer outraised Assemblymember Laura Friedman by 2-1 and State Senator Portantino by more than $200k in just this quarter. Feuer’s impressive fundraising numbers are a testament to the strong grassroots support he has built throughout the district, with his earnings so far totaling over $654,000. Feuer reported nearly $630,000 in cash on hand at the close of the quarter.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by this outpouring of support,” said Feuer, noting this is the fastest start of any campaign in his public service career. “In such an urgent moment, our community clearly recognizes we need leaders who’ve proven they can rise to the toughest challenges and achieve big results. Our fragile democracy itself is on the line and we have no time to waste. I’m up to the challenge.”

Feuer started his campaign strong with the powerhouse endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Since announcing his candidacy, Feuer has earned other key endorsements, including current and former members of Congress, other key officials, leaders on gun violence prevention, environmental protection, civil rights and many more.

Mike Feuer previously served as Los Angeles City Attorney, Majority Policy Leader, and Chairman of the Judiciary Committee in the California Assembly, as Los Angeles City Councilmember, and Executive Director of Bet Tzedek Legal Services, The House of Justice. The 30th District is Feuer’s home, and he has represented the lion’s share of it over the course of his career. Sixty percent of the district is in Los Angeles and West Hollywood.

Mike’s extensive record of achievement as a public servant is unmatched among his competitors in the race for Congress. A staunch defender of democracy, Mike wrote California’s Same-Day Voter Registration Law in response to voter suppression efforts. He has also fought to protect marginalized communities by challenging Trump Administration efforts to undermine the Census and DACA and make the LAPD complicit in civil immigration enforcement.

Feuer’s other notable achievements include his widely-recognized work to prevent gun violence, confront the climate crisis, expand access to healthcare, protect consumers, and stand up for women’s reproductive rights. He has led landmark litigation against Wells Fargo, written key laws to advance environmental protection, and enforced the FACT Act to require crisis pregnancy centers to inform patients of their full reproductive options. Feuer has also been a vocal advocate for seniors and the LGBTQ community, fighting for marriage equality and targeting anti-LGBTQ hate and discrimination.
