LANCASTER – A woman has been shot in front of her children today in Lancaster, according to authorities.
Deputies and fire department personnel responded to Sierra Highway near Avenue J for reports of a gunshot victim.
The woman was suffering from a gunshot to her shoulder.
Witnesses described the woman as being “pistol whipped” and punched before being shot.
The victim was transported to a local hospital in an unknown condition.
Deputies then received a tip the suspect fled in a U-haul truck towards the city of Rosemond.
Deputies then surrounded a home in the 3900 block of Springfield Court in nearby Rosemond.
One person was taken into custody.
