LONG BEACH – A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly shooting another man during an argument in Long Beach, authorities said Saturday.

Officers were sent to the 100 block of East 28th Street at about 10:30 p.m. Friday regarding a report of a shooting, and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

The victim said he was walking in the area when he became involved in an argument with another man, who shot him several times.

Paramedics rushed the shooting victim, with non-life-threatening injuries, to a hospital and officers located evidence — including shell casings — indicating that a shooting had occurred.

Willie James Glover was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, being a felon in possession of a firearm and prohibited possession of ammunition. The Long Beach resident’s bail was set at $1.1 million.

The investigation remains ongoing.
